Hi Friends,
If you own a makeup bag, then I’m guessing that somewhere in there there’s a black or brown eyeliner?
Black and brown are universal colours that look great on everyone. I know it’s a staple in my personal and professional makeup kit.
But, what if I told you that one of the quickest and easiest ways for your eyes to truly sparkle, was to wear a coloured eyeliner?
Coloured eyeliner is actually a great place to start if you’ve become a little bored of your eye makeup recently!
As a makeup artist, one of the questions I get asked the most is, “What eyeliner colour would suit me best”?
Remember – there are NO rules when it comes to choosing the right colour for YOU. Everybody can wear every shade, BUT if you REALLY want to intensify your natural eye colour then certain shades work better than others.
For example, if you have:
If you are still unsure, then help is at hand, meet your new best friend – the Colour Wheel!
To really make your eyes POP, look at a colour that is opposite to your eye colour on the colour wheel. This will give your eyes maximum impact.
Try not to outperform the colour of your natural eyes, by using the same or similar colours to your eyes!
Remember, this is just a guide. The best way to see what works for you, is to try out different shades and see what YOU like the best!
A deep amethyst purple shade looks beautifully demure on everyone and is very easy to wear!
I love THIS purple eyeliner shade in particular!
Top tip: Keep the rest of your makeup simple!
As this look is all about your eyes, when you wear a coloured eyeliner you may want to keep the rest of your makeup pretty natural and understated, so as to give maximum attention to your eyes.
THIS lipstick looks beautiful and natural on everyone and looks great with any colour of eyeliner!
Once you dive into wearing coloured eyeliner, I think you’ll be hooked!
But if this is your first time, I have some tips to ease you and give you the confidence:
First, line your eyes with a soft black pencil. Make sure the line is thin.
THIS black pencil goes on like a dream!
Now, line your eyes with your coloured eyeliner. Line with the coloured eyeliner right atop the black.
Afterwards, take a Q Tip and gently smudge the two liners together. You’ll end up with a richer shade, nearing on black. This will help give you a small amount of colour without it being too obvious.
Even as a makeup artist I still make mistakes when applying my eyeliner. Don’t worry about it, it’s super easy to fix any mistakes by using a Q-Tip.
Just dab the end of a clean Q-Tip into your regular face or eye cream and smooth away any mistakes – this is like magic!
If you need more help with learning how to apply eyeliner; perhaps you’ve always wanted to learn how to create a beautiful eyeliner swoosh? If so, help is on hand and I made you THIS video.
Seeing as this look is all about your eyes – go full volume on your lashes! This will really give your eyes the edge and help frame the colour.
THIS is one of my all-time favourite black mascaras!
If you suffer from sparse, short or stumpy lashes then THIS lash primer is a must-have for creating instant length and fullness.
Not only will THIS instantly give you the look of thicker and longer lashes, it also contains ingredients that encourage lash growth over time!
It’s not just the unique colours that make THESE eyeliners so special, it’s their creamy, highly pigmented shades with maximum staying power that really makes them a staple in my makeup kit – and I hope for your beauty bag too!
The organic Moringa Oil in THESE eyeliners help make these highly-pigmented, ultra-soft, waterproof, smudge-proof, long-lasting eye pencils glide on smoothly…
…and stay put ALL day long!
I hope the tips I’ve shared have inspired you to try wearing coloured eyeliner!
Love
