So here’s the REAL beauty deal:
What you eat plays a HUGE role in keeping your skin looking plump and bouncy! It’s a well known fact in the beauty industry that
This strange (but seriously yummy snack!) could help keep you not only feeling fuller for longer but looking YOUNGER for longer too! And what’s not to LOVE about that!?
PLEASE NOTE: This recipe is not suitable for someone with nut allergies.
Apples are a great and easily accessible source of Vitamin C.
Vitamin C helps improve skin quality and encourages the skin to produce more collagen and elastin, which keeps our skin looking plump, lifted and smooth! Vitamin C also helps your skin repair itself and as an antioxidant
Free radicals are unstable molecules that damage collagen and cause skin dryness, fine lines and wrinkles. (ie. our nemesis!!)
Honey is a great alternative to sugar, giving your skin a POWER helping of age-fighting antioxidants!
But what are these age-fighting antioxidants?
Skin damage occurs as a result of oxidation, a chemical process in which unstable molecules (those pesky free radicals again!) steal electrons from our healthy cells. The most damaging oxidative stressors that we expose ourselves to are smoking and sunlight.
Aside from staying away from cigarettes and using sunscreen when you go out, the next best thing you can do for your skin’s health is to eat a diet rich in antioxidants. If you have a sweet tooth, you may as well enjoy the taste and benefits of honey helping to fight off ageing!
Cashew Nut Butter is now becoming more readily available in larger supermarkets and health food stores.
It’s a lot milder and creamier than its famous cousin – peanut butter – and contains a high level of Omega 3.
So why exactly do we need a diet rich in Omega 3’s?
Omega 3’s are essential in keeping our skin plump and they act as a natural moisturiser for your skin from the inside out. If your skin is dry or your complexion is lacking vitality then try upping your Omega 3 intake!
1. Using a sharp knife slice the apple into 4 even ‘disc’ shaped slices. Make sure the core is running parallel to the chopping board
2. Remove the core using a an apple corer or sharp knife to create a ‘doughnut’ shape.
3. Using a butter knife or spoon spread an even layer of cashew butter over one of the disks.
4. Next take the honey, and again using a spoon or butter knife, drizzle it over the top of the cashew butter.
5. Place another disc on top to finish!
If you want to go the extra mile, then why not add some dried fruit, cinnamon or rolled oats to create different textures and tastes to keep your snack interesting and varied!
TIP: If you’re not going to be eating your apple snack right away, then brush it with a coat of lemon juice – this will help prevent the apple from browning.
Bon appétit – and enjoy eating your way to more youthful skin!
