As a makeup artist, in my opinion, the one shade that everyone should have in their makeup kit is a ‘Your Lips Only Better’ lipstick shade!
It’s a go-to lip colour that’s worn just one to three shades darker than your natural lip colour.
By ever so slightly enhancing your natural lip shade, you can swoosh it on without wearing any other makeup, adding just a little je ne sais quoi to your naturally fresh look!
Plus, the slightly enhanced depth of colour intensifies the volume of your pout!
Add just a sweep of THIS MASCARA to gently frame the colour of your iris which really allows your natural eye colour to sparkle! By creating a polished (yet natural lip look) your eyes become the main focus.
When you’re short of time and lacking sleep, applying a natural yet pout defining lip shade with just a sleek of this mascara and a touch of THIS CONCEALER – it’s all you need to look like YOU, but on a really good day!
To help find your most flattering shade, a good place to start is to look at the colour on the inside of your lower lip (believe it or not!).
Take a peek in the mirror now, what colour do you see on the inside of your lower lip? Remember, you’re looking to enhance the natural undertones of the inside of your lower lip.
Now, imagine a shade that’s 1 – 3 shades darker than the inside of your lower lip – this is your BEST ‘my lips but only better’ lipstick shade to seek out!
If the colour is too light (and too similar to your skin tone and colour) it tends to blend in with the rest of the face and it could wash out the complexion.
Most people find that a pink or peachy lipstick with slight brown undertones will look best – just as long as it’s 1 – 3 shades darker than the colour on the inside of your lip.
Take a look at THIS LIPSTICK, it’s one of the best-sellers in my boutique and for good reason – it’s SO natural and pretty on everyone!
If you suffer with cracked lips, try rubbing your lips gently with a damp towel and then apply some nourishing lip balm (if you don’t have any lip balm then a little moisturiser will also work). I’ve had amazing results with THIS LIP FIX for dry cracked lips.
This step takes 2 seconds but makes a BIG difference to how amazing it makes lips look!
Before you apply your lipstick, prime your lips with foundation or concealer (the same shade that you wear on your face) to act as a base, which gives your lipstick a smoother finish and (if you wish for a bigger looking pout) spread it a little over your lip line to fake a larger canvas size!
THIS CONCEALER is beautifully natural looking on skin!
This little trick really helps show off your natural lip shape whilst also helping the lipstick stay on for longer!
Choose a lip liner that’s 1- 2 shades darker than your lipstick. The key is to play with light and dark.
Trace the outline of your lips with your lip liner. Next, slightly blend and fill the inside edges of the lip with the liner.
Then, apply your lipstick shade over the top of the entire top and bottom lip. THIS LIP LINER is one of my all-time fave lip liners and goes with everything!
A little dab of lip gloss in the middle of your lip creates the look of instant volume!
Using clear lip gloss or a gloss shade close to your lipstick colour, apply a dab of gloss onto the middle of both of your lips.
Just a little dab of gloss in the center ever-so-slightly draws light, reflection and attention to the middle (the fullest part) of the lip and helps make your pout appear fuller and plumper. Take a look at THIS GLOSS, it makes lips look incredible!
THIS LIP LINER is a universal natural lip shade that looks beautiful on everyone! Plus, it will suit any item of clothing you have in your wardrobe.
And here’s the cool thing; if you struggle to find your perfect ‘my lips but only better shade’ you can wear THIS LIP LINER as a lipstick too.
Oh, AND it contours – to make lips look more voluminous too!
Are you feeling inspired? I hope these tips have helped you discover your best neutral shade for sexy looking lips EVERY day!
