Freckles really are having a HUGE moment right now in both the fashion and beauty industry!
As a makeup artist, I can’t tell you how MANY times I’ve been asked to re-create the look of freckles on a models face while on a photo-shoot.
Because freckles add a certain natural beauty to the face that exudes youth and natural bare-faced sweetness!
On the contrary, many of my regular clients (women just like me and you) ask me if there’s a foundation that HIDES their freckles!
I always love to encourage a client NOT to cover up freckles with heavy foundations, BUT instead show them how to embrace, celebrate, LOVE and protect their freckles!
Freckles are just skin cells that contain a pigment called ‘melanin’.
Melanin is a chemical that our skin cells produce to help protect our skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays by reflecting or absorbing them.
Freckles are our skin’s way of telling us: “Help – I’m getting damaged by the sun!”
Freckles are highly treatable with lasers, and the good news is that the treatment usually has great results!
For more information, find a good Dermatologist that can help to advise you further. But be prepared – this can be pricey!
If you like the freckles you have (and I happen to love the look of freckles) then just ROCK the freckled look with pride!
Protecting your skin in the sun is SUPER important for everyone, but if you have freckles you may need to be EXTRA careful.
Make sure your skin is protected with a broad spectrum high SPF of at least 30 – broad spectrum means it helps protect against UVA (the rays responsible for ageing) and UVB (the rays responsible for burning).
Wearing a UV won’t take your existing freckles away BUT it will help your skin to not produce MORE and will also help the existing freckles from not becoming darker.
Top Tip: UV rays are present all year round, so if possible always try to wear a sunscreen on your face to help protect your skin and your freckles.
Anyone who has one or more freckle(s) that’s bleeding, crusty or that changes shape should have their dermatologist evaluate them.
Even verbal descriptions and photographs cannot convey enough information for satisfactory self-diagnosis. As always, it is better to be safe than sorry.
Having freckles is a charming trademark for natural beauty and today, many models are getting hired BECAUSE of their freckles!
Here are just a few reasons to why I love freckles:
Beauty is now celebrating being unique instead of conventional – and here’s how to enhance the natural beauty of a freckly face:
Instead of foundation wear a BB cream, it’s a lighter coverage than a foundation and helps to even out the skin tone without covering up those pretty freckles!
If you truly want your skin to glow naturally, simply, take down shine from your T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) with a light dusting of translucent powder. Be sure to leave the cheeks to glow and have
Be sure to leave the cheeks to glow and have natural sheen!
Should you need a little EXTRA helping hand under the eyes, or to take down redness around the nose, check out the Veil Complexion Fix pen!
Not only does it help perfect the look of skin like a concealer, it still allows your own natural skin to GLOW and show through. It’s like your skin – only more rested looking!
Bronzers can help create a more even skin tone by adding more warmth to your complexion..and this helps freckles look even prettier!
Sweep across where the sun would naturally kiss your face (forehead, up to the hairline, across the bridge of the nose and chin).
Remember – the trick is to find a bronzer that’s not overly dark and doesn’t contain any shimmer!
Adding a POP of natural looking blush to the apples of your cheeks helps to play up the youthfulness of your freckles by lifting the complexion and the look of your cheekbones!
My blush go-to for freckles is the Daniel Sandler Watercolour™ Liquid Blush, in both shimmery or matte shades. The unique formula allows freckles to peep through, helping keep your makeup looking fresh and natural.
PLUS, it’s super nourishing and it even doubles up as a lip stain!
Top Tip: If you like to wear bronzer, apply your blush AFTER your bronzer.
FRECKLES really are FREAKIN’ FRECKLY AWESOME!!
So whether you have them or just draw them on, wear them with PRIDE, and make sure you protect them ALL year round.
