Have you ALWAYS wanted to master a subtle, sexy smokey eye look for that special occasion, but are worried about looking over-done, or like you’ve tried too hard?
Today I’m showing you how JUST how easy it is by JUST using my fingers! Yep, NO FANCY MAKEUP BRUSHES REQUIRED!
Watch my video to learn how to get PRETTY, SMOKEY eyes in just 5 easy steps – prepare to WOW!
Ever noticed how your eyeshadow wears off throughout the day? This is because the oils in our skin break down makeup, but fear not because I have a little trick that will ensure your eyeshadow stays on for ages PLUS helps your eyeshadow application look more professional, just like a makeup artist perfected your eye look!
Follow these simple steps before you apply your eyeshadow:
In my makeup artist kit, I love to use the Daniel Sandler Invisible Blotting Powder – it’s amazingly weightless so doesn’t feel like you have anything on your skin, PLUS it won’t cake or settle into creases, or dry out your skin!
The secret to a beautiful smokey eye that looks soft, smokey and sexy is in the shade of shadow and eyeliner you choose! It can be a little daunting choosing the best shade of eyeshadow and eyeliner to match your skin tone, hair colour and eye colour – but I’ve selected two products that work brilliantly together (sold exclusively as a duo), and make EVERY eye colour stand out beautifully while still looking soft and sexy!
This duo contains a soft Matte Eyeshadow in shade ‘Tornado’ – this is a mushroom, taupe colour that, at first glance, looks pretty unremarkable – you’d probably walk right past it in the store! But this clever shade works like MAGIC on your eyes to give just the right amount of intensity of colour, while the formulation also makes the whites of your eyes look much brighter – GENIUS!
The duo also contains a luxurious purple Waterproof Eyeliner in shade ‘Purple Velvet’ which glides onto the eye like silk. Perhaps you usually reach for a black eyeliner if you want to add a little definition to your eyes? While black eyeliner can look great, this purple shade gives a slightly softer, more natural frame to the eye while still giving that intense colour PLUS the purple shade complements EVERY eye colour beautifully.
I’ll show you just how EASY it is to apply shadow for this look using the most essential makeup tool of all – your ring finger!
TOP TIP! Always use a clean finger to blend, NOT the same finger you’ve used to apply the colour! This way, you’re making sure you’re blending the colour to create a soft and natural finish rather than continuing to add more colour.
This is my favourite part of creating a smokey eye, it makes the eye look incredibly sexy!
I’ll show you how to add soft, sultry definition to your eyes to make your eye colour POP!
TOP TIP! If you’d like to add a slight wing to your liner for a sophisticated look, simply add a little more liner to the outer corner of your upper lash line, taking it just past the outer corner of your eye.
Using the nail of your pinky finger, gently drag the colour upwards towards your brow to create an eye flick!
This step gives real WOW factor to your lashes! By applying a lash primer BEFORE your mascara, your lashes are given an instant boost of incredible length and volume, which really sets off this sultry look!
I’m NEVER without my CODE FFL ‘Forget Fake Lashes’ Pre-Mascara Primer in my professional makeup kit – it’s my secret to fuller, longer and more luscious lashes!
As a makeup artist, I love to complete the look of a smokey eye with an intense and highly pigmented shade of black mascara!
Choosing the right mascara for this look will open and widen your eyes and set the look off beautifully!
I love to use one of my favourite mascaras for this look which is Lord & Berry ‘Back in Black’ mascara – it gives an intense black colour which elevates this look PLUS you can choose your perfect volume by adding as many layers as you wish! The slim wand allows you to coat every single lash which emphasises your eye shape too!
TOP TIP! By adding most of the colour to the roots of your lashes and wiggling the colour to the ends of your lashes, this will help to prevent clogging which usually occurs on the tips of your lashes.
I hope I’ve inspired you to experiment with a smokey eye look – you’ll be AMAZED at how easy it is!
