Textured, messy waves are where it’s AT right now!
Forget intricated updo’s and hours spent perfecting your hairstyle and join in the delightful bed headiness of the NEW WAVE!
I have the inside scoop from behind the celeb scenes of perfecting that “I-woke-up-like-this” texture from your home!
So here’s how to give your hair that effortless, cool wave style that you’ve seen all the celebs rockin’ right now!
You’ll need:
-Hair tongs – 1 inch thick
-Hair grip to section hair
Step 1. Brush hair through. Since my hair is sensitive and prone to splitting I use this Tangle Angel Hairbrush. If you – like me – are PRONE to split ends this gentle brush creates minimal stress on the hair, detangling even the toughest knots without ripping and splitting the hair!
Step 2. Tie your hair into a topknot, and secure with a hair grip, leaving the bottom section of hair loose;
Step 3. With your hands, gather ALL your loose sectioned hair from the nape of your neck and split into two equal sections bringing your hair forward.
Step 4. Starting from the back of your hair, using a 1inch tong start by wrapping each loose section of hair around the tong in an ANTI-CLOCKWISE direction
Don’t curl the ends of your hair and don’t curl the very route of the hair. For this modern take on the wave, you want the ends and roots left as they are. This will stop the wave looking like a ringlet and instead leave you with an effortless looking wave that looks chic, natural and loose.
Step 5. Once you’ve finished curling the bottom section and the hair has cooled run your fingers through your hair, but do not brush (as this will ruin the sexy wave we are trying to create)!
Step 6. Release the next layer of hair from the topknot;
Step 5. Continue this layer by wrapping each section in the same direction;
Step 6. Release another layer of hair from the topknot;
Step 7. Starting from the back of your hair once more, start by wrapping each loose section of hair around the tong BUT this time, wave THIS layer in the opposite direction ‘CLOCKWISE’.
Leave the fringe (bangs) of the hair until last to curl; you’ll see why in a minute!
For the most flattering way of framing your face leave the fringe (bangs!) or front of the hair until last.
The trick here is to create a wave that highlights your cheekbones and frames your face.
Step 8. Grab the front section of your hair with your hand (just a small section at a time);
Step 9. Always curl the front sections of hair away from the face in an anti-clockwise direction. Start the curl a few inches from the scalp so that the curl bounces off the cheekbone, making cheekbones look higher!;
This little trick will give the illusion of a ‘lifted’ bone structure as the eyes are drawn upwards, to where your fringe/bangs end – a really cool and effective way to ‘fake’ models cheekbones!
Step 10. Don’t use a hair brush! It will only ruin ALL your lovely waves. Instead, just shake your locks and run your fingers through the curls to separate and create texture, messing up the curl and making the look ‘effortless’;
After you’ve run your fingers through your hair to make the wave last longer (and look more lived-in and sexy) apply a dry shampoo at the roots and shake! Help keep your style in place by spritzing with light-hold hair spray.
Now you’ve shown off your cheekbones with your hair, further enhance them with the Daniel Sandler Illuminating Powder, a beautiful textured pressed powder which helps dull, skin get that beautiful radiant sheen back!
Just ‘swirl and swoosh’Daniel Sandler Illuminating Powder‘on the tops of cheekbones to create the most beautiful glow!
A nude (yet glossy) lip gives this hairstyle major sex appeal (but in a way that doesn’t look like you’ve tried too hard)!
I hope I’ve inspired you to try out ‘sexy, wavy hair’. Once mastered it really is so simple and gives your look a whole new vibe!
