As a Makeup Artist, one of the most universally desired and requested looks is having longer, thicker and more beautiful lashes – we ALL want a piece of that!
Full and voluminous lashes are often perceived as a sign of youth, and as we age, our lashes can start to look a little sparse and thin.
So how can we ‘cheat’ the look of longer, fuller lashes? I have GREAT news – it’s much easier than you might think!
Today, I’ve found products that when worn together, will give you those eye-catching, strikingly gorgeous lashes that we all want to ROCK!
Watch my simple tips that really will make a BIG difference and transform your lashes instantly.
From my video, you can see just how simple it is to create this look at home. Now let me further help with some easy to follow steps to creating fuller, longer, and more youthful looking lashes – all you need is a few essential products, making this effect so effortless.
Get ready to flutter your youthful looking beautiful lashes like NEVER before!
Before I even reach for my mascara, the very FIRST thing I do is create a fuller looking lash line.
By creating fuller looking lashes first, we need to cheat the look of thicker lash roots at the base, giving the illusion of thicker, fuller looking lashes!
To do this, I rely on ‘Blinc’ smudge proof eyeliner.
Have you ever applied your eyeliner, happily left the house only to catch sight of yourself a few hours later and find it’s either worn off or worse…it’s smudged and transferred all over the eyelid!
That’s precisely why I love this Blinc 24hr smudge proof eyeliner – it’s smudge AND fade proof for 24 hours, making it one of the longest wearing eyeliner pencils available in the WORLD. Now that’s my kind of product!!
Plus, the eyeliner is super soft and smooth to apply (nothing worse then applying hard, scratchy eyeliner…Ouch!). The formula is also jam-packed with antioxidants and vitamins to help condition and treat the skin while you are wearing it…great news for both you AND your skin!
This eyeliner is best suited to the upper waterline since it doesn’t smudge or budge (most regular eyeliners if applied to the upper waterline will disappear within a few of minutes!)
Because this Blinc eyeliner is TOTALLY smudge proof, it does mean that it can be a little more difficult to ‘blend out’ if you choose to apply it on the top of your eyelid since it’s been designed not to move or smudge!
So, If you’re seeking an eyeliner that moves and slides and can be ‘smudged-out’ this eyeliner is not for you. This Blinc eyeliner is best suited to women wishing for an eyeliner that once applied sets in place for the entire day and can not be moved (until desired with a gentle face cleanser).
Should you find the Blinc eye pencil difficult to blend and smudge (due to it being smudge proof!); apply your regular eye pencil to the top of your eyelid first smudge & blend to the look you desire and THEN apply Blinc to the upper waterline and wait a second or two before blinking for it to lock in place!
Take a look at how once applied Blinc locks in place until you wash your face with a gentle face cleanser!
If you’ve never lined the ‘UPPER’ water line of your eyes before, then you’re missing a trick! It really will make a HUGE difference to how thick your lashes will look.
It can be a little tricky when your first try, but don’t worry – with a bit of practice you’ll find your groove, and I promise you’ll never want NOT to line your upper water line again!
Be sure to watch my video above for TOP tips on this one.
Remember, you’ll want the tip of the pencil to be soft and blunt, so I start by warming the liner on the back of a clean hand first.
Personally, I find it easier to see if I tilt my head slightly upwards and look down into a mirror.
Just place the eyeliner at the very outer corner of the upper water line and move the pencil from side to side, taking the colour about two-thirds of the way across, just past the pupil.
Next, I’m lining the TOP of my eyelid as close to my lashes as possible. You want to ‘wiggle’ the Blinc eyeliner into the roots to get a really good coverage.
Don’t worry about the line being perfect – I’ll show you how to fix any mistakes easily. All you need to do here is work on creating a depth of colour as near to the root of lashes as possible.
BONUS TIP: Warm the pencil on the back of your hand. You may find it easier to line in feathered strokes than attempting one fluid line.
To fix any mistakes, grab a Q-tip (cotton bud!) and rub it across JUST the very top of the line to blend away any jagged edges.
Take a look at the picture below; already the ‘after’ picture on the left appears more defined – and I haven’t even reached for the mascara yet!
Never heard of a lash primer before? You’re not alone. That’s because they’re relatively new to the beauty industry, but BOY are they here to stay! The concept is simple: to prep, prime and condition your lashes before applying your regular mascara.
This primer is called Code F.F.L – Forget Fake Lashes; and it’s unlike any lash primer I’ve used before because it coats every single lash, leaving them looking fuller and longer from ROOT to TIP! This is all thanks to the clever formulation that contains tiny fibres that stick to each lash pumping them up individually one-by-one.
BEST of all – the primer is beige toned, so it acts as a guide to ensure that you have coated every single baby lash. Plus, it also conditions your lashes throughout the day…RESULT!
I start by applying Code F.F.L to my TOP lashes, using wiggly strokes upwards to ensure complete cover from the base.
I like to place the wand horizontally and apply a couple of coats. The more coats you apply, the thicker and longer your lashes will look! This primer works brilliantly under EVERY mascara out there!
You can apply Code FFL to the tops and the bottom lashes.
I allow about 30 seconds for the Code FFL to dry before reaching for my regular mascara.
Now here’s the FUN part! Grab your regular mascara (it can be any colour, but I find black makes the MOST impact when you want more striking looking lashes).
Just be sure it’s a relatively new one, as you may find an older, more dried out mascara may not give the coverage you want over the primer.
Go ahead and apply your favourite mascara over the top (and bottom) for a SUPER-charged more voluminous effect!
The beauty of the CODE FFL primer is that it works with ALL mascaras!
BONUS TIP: coating BOTH sides of your top lashes will fully cover all hairs, making them appear even thicker!
Now that our lashes look beautiful, full and more youthful, you may want to complete the look with a slick of lipstick!
If you’re on a mission to find a lipstick that works just as well in the day as it does on a night out, then look no further! This little beauty is called ‘Cherub’ and is by Daniel Sandler, and I totally love it!
The shade is impactful BUT without being ‘too much’! Why? Because it’s more of a sheen, allowing your natural lip colour to peek through while leaving your lips looking more defined, luscious…and kissable!
I’m a sucker for multi-purpose products, so this Daniel Sandler lipstick in shade ‘Cherub’ is PERFECT as it works it’s magic on your cheeks too! Just dab a little on the apples of your cheeks and blend in quick circular motions up towards the top of your ear. If you want a deeper colour, just repeat the step until you’re happy with the result.
Voila – now your pretty shade of lipstick matches perfectly with your cheeks!
I’m SO excited for you to try these simple tips that when used together make all the difference to the look of your lashes…and YOU!
Are you ready to transform your lashes? Go on, let those peepers show ’em what they’re made of!
