Perhaps you judge yourself with unachievable expectations, perhaps you look in the mirror and criticise yourself? If this feels like you, stay tuned because I’ve got some advice that a friend shared with me and has made SUCH a difference to how I treat and talk to myself, and I’m excited to share this advice with you!
Quite simply, the advice is to treat yourself just as you would your best friend. After all, the longest relationship you’ll ever have is with yourself, so it’s worth investing in!

Remember, if you heard someone saying something harsh or cruel to your best friend, wouldn’t you want to defend them? This is EXACTLY what you should do if you allow that negative self-talk to take over – don’t stand for it! The golden rule is not to say anything to yourself you wouldn’t say to your best friend.
Learn to be patient, kind and supportive to yourself and I think you’ll be surprised at the impact this will have on your life. I hope these tips have made you think about being a little kinder to yourself.
